The L-9 served with all military services during WWII, the U.S. Army Air Corp, Coast Guard, Navy and the Civil Air Patrol. One of those L-9's is credited with sinking a German submarine off off the Atlantic coast. An L-9 was also reported to be the personal aircraft of General Patton as he prepared troops in the California & Arizona desert before deploying to Africa against Rommel forces.
